It is my pleasure to invite you to the public defence of my Ph.D. thesis, titled “Gravity-driven thin films: flow and dissolution.” The defence will be held this Friday, 14 November, at 17h00 on the EPFL campus.

I would like to thank my thesis jury: Tobias Schneider, John R. Lister, Thomas Salez, and Christophe Ancey; before whom I defended my doctoral thesis today. I am deeply grateful for their goodwill, curiosity, and brilliant questions, which sparked a truly delightful discussion.

I am pleased to attend this year's APS Global Physics Summit (Anaheim CA, 16–21 March). A collaboration with Loup Hasbroucq and Sylvain Courrech du Pont has resulted in two contributed talks on rain-driven dissolution. Find our abstracts here and here.

I am looking forward to giving an oral presentation on the linear instability of condensing film flows as part of the Minisymposium on Instabilities in free-surface flows at the 1st European Fluid Dynamics Conference (Aachen, 16–20 September). Find our abstract here.

As my doctoral mobility stay in MSC concludes, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Prof. Sylvain Courrech du Pont and to all labmates for their warm welcome; special thanks to Loup Hasbroucq, Martin Chaigne, Emilien Dilly, Stanisław Żukowski, Grégoire Le Lay, Michaël Berhanu, Dražen Zanchi, and Stéphane Douady. To work alongside such talented individuals has made the last six months a truly invaluable experience.

I am delighted to present some of our preliminary findings on the formation of dissolution patterns in mist at the upcoming MePhy Day of Environmental Mechanics (Paris, 12 June).

Our manuscript “Stability of a liquid layer draining around a horizontal cylinder: Interplay of capillary and gravity forces” has been published in the Physical Review Fluids.

I am excited to start my doctoral mobility stay with Prof. Sylvain Courrech du Pont in the Laboratoire Matière et Systèmes Complexes in Paris, where I will perform experiments on the emergence of dissolution patterns.

Our manuscript “Boundary-layer approach to the linear karren instability” has been published in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics Rapids.
